Trash and recycling services in The Homestead are provided by Texas Disposal Systems (TDS). This page provides a quick overview of service, schedules, and options for larger item disposal.

🗑 Weekly Trash Service

TDS provides curbside trash collection on a weekly basis, with carts supplied to each home.

What to Know:

  • Place carts at the curb or street, clear of obstacles
  • Leave at least 5 feet of space between carts, mailboxes, and vehicles
  • Pickup schedule is typically Thursday for both trash and recycling

♻️ Recycling Service

TDS provides single-stream recycling, meaning all recyclables can go into the same cart — no sorting required.

What to Know:

  • Typically collected every Thursday, along with trash
  • Accepted materials include paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals
  • Do not bag recyclables (loose items only)

📅 Schedule & Holiday Changes

Collection schedules may shift due to holidays or severe weather.

TDS Holiday Closures:

🪑 Bulk Pickup (Large Items)

How It Works:

  • Standard pickup is approximately 3 cubic yards (about 3 washing machines)
  • Larger loads may incur additional cost
  • Some areas may include limited bulk pickup as part of service

  • Appliances (with proper preparation)
  • Mattresses (may incur fee)
  • Carpet, wood, and other large household items

🚫 Items Not Accepted in Curbside Pickup
